Throughout our human history. There have been several history’s most famous pets. That have won human hearts and are still alive in the history. They all have gained such popularity due to their unique style of living with humans. They have very interesting stories, and their association of living with human and qualities can never be forgotten. Following are some of the history’s most famous pets in the human history:
Hachiko (1923-1935)
Hachiko was an Akita dog from Japan who is famous for the loyalty towards his owner- Hidesaburo Ueno. Hachiko’s owner was a professor in a university who died during his work hours in the university. Hachiko used to accompany him to the railway station in Japan. During departure and arrival every day in the morning and evening. That day when the owner dies Hachiko waits for him but the owner do not return, he waits on the railway station for his owner for the 10 years and finally dies on the same railway station in 1935.

An Akita dog refers to a specific breed of dog known as the Akita Inu. The Akita Inu is a large and powerful dog breed that originated in Japan. “Akita” refers to the region in northern Japan where the breed was developed, and “Inu” means “dog” in Japanese, so Akita Inu translates to “dog from Akita.”
Akitas are known for their loyalty, courage, and dignified demeanour. They have a strong and muscular build, with a broad head and a curled tail. The breed has a double coat, with a dense and harsh outer coat and a soft undercoat, making them well-suited for colder climates.
In addition to their historical roles, Akitas have become popular as family pets, but they require experienced handling and early socialization and training due to their strong-willed nature. Responsible ownership and training are essential for ensuring that Akitas grow up to be well-adjusted and well-behaved companions.
Laika (1954-1957)
Laika was a stray dog from Russia, she is known as the first living being to orbit the Earth. In November 1957 she was launched by the Soveit Spacecraft Sputnik 2 for the mission. Unfortunately, Laika’s space journey was one way and she could survive only few hours after her return on the earth due to extreme conditions. Laika’s sacrifice paved the way for human space exploration and made her a symbol of pioneering spirit and space exploration.
The mission has sparked debates and discussions about the ethical treatment of animals in scientific experiments. Her legacy as the first living being in orbit remains a significant milestone in the history of space exploration. In her memory, several monuments and memorials have been erected in different parts of the world to honor her contributions to science and space exploration.
Jumbo (1860-1885)
An African elephant who was born in Sudan became a star attraction in the Zoo of London in the 1860’s. Jumbo was a male elephant known as ‘Djumbe’ in earlier times and was from Bush Elephant species. He became popular for his immense size and was very gentle in nature, Jumbo was sold to P.T Barnum; an American showman and joined the Barnum Bailey Circus. Barnum’s management put a hard effort on his training due to which Jumbo became a centre piece of the circus and became one of its biggest attraction. Jumbo had standing of 11.5 feet weighing several tons.
Unfortunately, Jumbo died on September 15, 1885 in St. Thomas at Ontario, Canada. While Jumbo was crossing railroad track during a stopover, he was struck by a train which became the reason of his death. This accident shocked the nation deeply and the death of Jumbo made several headlines in the newspapers across the country. The nation mourned the loss on ver their beloved elephant.
Jumbo is remembered as the iconic figure in the( history’s most famous pets) history of circus and popular culture. He is remembered is several ways including his statues at several places, landmarks and references in the media and literature. Despite Jumbo’s untimely death larger than life image endures, which makes him one of the most popular elephant in the history.
Grumpy Cat (2012-2019)
The real name of Grumpy cat was Tardar Sauce, she was a cat with distinctive facial expression that made her look so grumpy for the lifetime. She became viral on social media and soon became an internet sensation. Grumpy face of Grumpy cat became the joy for millions of people which also spawned numerous memes. She was considered a sweet and affectionate cat during her life. The original photo which became the reason of Grumpy Cat’s popularity was first posted on Reddit in September, 2012 which quickly spread over various websites and became reason of fame for this cat. Several individuals drawn to her face and started making memes with humorous captions matching her perceived attitude.
Grumpy was owned by Tabatha and Bryan Bundesen who managed her social media accounts specifically dedicated to her; a website was also created for Grumpy. Although her real name was Tardar Sauce but she became internet persona with her name as Grumpy cat.
Meme of the year in 2013 was also won by the Grumpy cat at the Webby Awards, which furthered her status as a pop culture icon. She passed away at age seven in the month of May, 2019. Her loss was deeply mourned by her followers and fans which paid a tribute to her impact on internet culture.
Pal, the original Lassie (1940-1958)
Pal was a Rough Collie dog. Who portrayed Lassie in the 1943 film “Lassie Come Home.” And several subsequent films and television series. Lassie was a sharp minded dog whose loyalty. Courage and intelligence was highly admired in the society. As she did her best to save her owners from several perils. Due to loyal behaviour she was considered the most loving canine character in pop culture history.
